Abstract

This work aims at providing a few notes on a Habermasian reading of Critical Theory, o rather, the first Critical Theory, for, as is well known, Habermas considered himself as belonging to this tradition of thougth. An attempt will be made to give a critical appraisal of Habermas thought, though the justification of certain theses may require emphasizing facets more thoroughly than possible in publication of these characteristics. This defect may be outweighed by the interviews, include here, with two young German philosophers, Heidrun Hesse and Gerd Kimmerle. Both interviews concentrate on the habermasian interpretation of first Critical Theory and are marked critical of it. This is specially so of his reception of Nietzsche. The Konkursbuch group of Tübingen, to which both these writers belong, offer a different reading of Critical Theory to that of Habermas and his school.
