Abstract

With this paper we display an analysis of the Commentary on the Aeneid attributed to Bernard Silvestris in which he explain the first six books of Vergil's work as a figuration of the pilgrimage of human life. Thus we atempt to prove that the more important topics of this work: integumentum's doctrine, intellectual and moral growth of the wise, naturalistic explication of the cosmos's genesis, role the typical of the Thimaeus's traditons present at Chartres School. Specially it could emphasize the integumentum's doctrine which confirms the relations between philosophy and literature in the XII century, accomplishing of the liberal Arts's program: the union fo Sapientia and Eloquentia.
