Abstract

The reception of the Aufklärung in Foucault's work is placed beyond other typical options of the modern thought self-defined as a continuation or rejection of the the enlightened rationality. In Foucault's texts, the Lumières do not form a legacy of principles that should be prolonged or contested; it is, like the very reason an event, that is why its condition is polivalent and cannot be set into a purely substantive definition. It may not be relevant the alternative election for or against Enlightenment. The present philosophy continues in the horizon wich was opened by the Lumières, not because it keeps on thinking from the event that inagurates it.
