Abstract

This article analyzes the differences in the philosophies of Merleau-Ponty and Deleuze on the issue of subjectivity, aiming to draw some consequences relevant to philosophy of art. It especially bears in mind the field of philosophical conceptions of cinema. In order to carry out this analysis we take into consideration the place that both authors give this subject and the discussion between Deleuze and Merleau-Pontyʼs phenomenology, from the point of view of a bergsonian ontology. Finally we compare both authors thoughts on cinema.
