O papel dos métodos mistos na ciência do desporto: ¿rumo a um quadro metodológico integrativo?

Resumo

A investigação em Ciências do Desporto tem sido tradicionalmente caracterizada por uma dualidade entre as abordagens quantitativa e qualitativa. Nas últimas décadas, os métodos mistos têm emergido como uma forma de integrar ambas, fomentando uma compreensão mais ampla do objeto de estudo. Contudo, a sua consideração enquanto paradigma de investigação é um debate em aberto, com alguns a interpretá-los como uma abordagem metodológica integrativa e outros a posicioná-los como um possível terceiro paradigma a partir de perspetivas pragmáticas. Neste contexto, a Metodologia Observacional tem sido considerada uma abordagem de métodos mistos em si mesma, devido à transição QUAL–QUAN–QUAL que ocorre ao longo das diferentes fases do processo de investigação, o que reforça a sua natureza integrativa. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar o papel dos métodos mistos em Ciências do Desporto. Para tal, é realizada uma revisão da sua evolução e aplicação na geração de conhecimento no âmbito da Atividade Física e das Ciências do Desporto, numa perspetiva bibliométrica e narrativa, com particular atenção aos estudos baseados na Metodologia Observacional. Os resultados mostram um aumento progressivo da utilização desta abordagem, embora a sua consolidação conceptual e a sua visibilidade enquanto quadro autónomo sejam ainda temas de discussão. Neste sentido, os métodos mistos surgem como uma ferramenta fundamental para a integração metodológica e o avanço do conhecimento em Ciências do Desporto.
