Abstract

In this work a sport injury intervention model from the perspective of sport psychology is developed. The repercussion of injury in athlete (Heil,1993; Rotella, 1990) are analysed. We set up a programme in order to prevent injuries; four elements must be taken into account: formative improvement of training staff, psychological resources training, realist objectives planning, and improvement of sportsman technical skills. We also propose a post-injury intervention programme going from immobilisation and mobilization stage -recovery, readaptation and retraining periods- (Palmi, 1997). Throughout this article, the importance of psycho-social aspects is emphasized, specially the social support (from health team, from sport team and from family and friends), as an essential tool for the professional intervention.
