An explanatory model of relations between person variables and creativity
Abstract
The objective of this research was to test a theoretical explanatory model of the relationships that could give between certain psychological variables and the creativity. Specifically, we examined the relationship between intelligence, personality, intrinsic motivation, self-efficacy and ideational creativity. The study was conducted with a sample of 180 university students (136 women and 44 men), which were evaluated in the variables studied in two sessions outside the regular academic schedule. The results, analyzed using the technique of structural equation model, confirmed and showed that both the independent variables (intelligence and personality) and intermediaries (intrinsic motivation and creative self-efficacy) that make up the proposed model influenced the phenomenon of creativity, being the creative self-efficacy the personal variable that most significantly intervened in the ideational creativity.
