Abstract

Bullying is a phenomenon that affects the well-being of young people in general and athletes in particular. This research focused on analyzing the impact of an online course for coaches and designed within the framework of the European Before project to prevent bullying. In parallel, WhatsApp was used as a communication channel. A mixed methodology and an evaluative research design were used. Six coaches participated in the experience for a duration of six months. The instruments used were structured in three key moments: before, during and after. A pre-questionnaire was used to analyze the initial knowledge that the coaches had about bullying. During the intervention process, learning was measured by performing three tests previously designed on the course platform. After the intervention, (1) a self-assessment is used where the coaches evaluate their effectiveness after implementing the acquired skills; (2) a satisfaction survey of the participants about the course is carried out in a global way; and (3) the coaches' experiences are analyzed through narratives to assess the impact of the training action. After analysing the results, we observed that the coaches initially had basic knowledge about bullying and that most lacked specific training. In addition, their digital skills were limited. After the implementation of the training action, we concluded by stating that the course significantly impacted their ability to detect and intervene in cases of bullying, including practical strategies such as recording conflicts and implementing group dynamics. Also, the coaches perceived an improvement in their digital skills and positively valued the flexible hours of the online course and the rapid feedback obtained through WhatsApp, which was positioned as an effective tool to facilitate collaborative learning.
