The tutorial role of teachers: Evaluative study in three Brazilian federal universities

Abstract

In this article the results of an  investigation in Amazonas Federal University (UFAM), Rondonia Federal University (UNIR) and Grande Dourados Federal University are presented. Its objective was  to typify the guidance  that students receive  from  their teachers . The research is based on a sample of  1213 students. A kind of  Lickert´s scale was used to collect information. The results demonstrate  that teaching guidance role is linked to the accompaniment in  the learning process. Personal and professional  guidance have  a minor presence. The differences perceived  are linked to an academic performance  indicator. Thus, failing subjects is  connected both  with the scientific scope of the degrees andthe support of  families . The conclusions of the research show the need to to promote the importance of tutorials not only on legal advice  but also  on organizational facets and resources required to its development.
