Abstract

This paper presents a study about early literacy teaching practice that takes an in-depth look at the real tasks which teachers carry out. These practices are contrasted with a category system that represents a holistic approach to literacy instruction. The results suggest that the work of this teacher, perhaps in an intuitive way, is a good example of how to work literacy instruction into a holistic model according to the theoretical knowledge available. All of this is against a background which has generated a process of reflection about practicing with the teacher.
