Abstract

In 1926 Valbuena Prat published in Clásicos Castellanos his edition of El esclavo del demonio by Antonio Mira de Amescua. With this work Valbuena offers a reliable, legible and comprehensible edition, with a clear and well annotated text to the reader who is interested in the authors of the Golden Age. Throughout the present paper Valbuena’s editing task is examined from the analysis of the preface to the annotation work. The purpose is to highlight how Valbuena Prat realized this philological enterprise with rigour, severity and authority.
