Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to reflect on the epistemological conception and the descriptive-explanatory possibilities of the disciplines that make up the knowledge area of “Literary Theory and Comparative Literature”. So we account for the configuration of Literary Theory as a system of description and explanation of the literary text and the literary fact; we account for the literary theorization and the descriptive and explanatory theoretical models of its object of study; we account for the dependency of the comprehensive or global theoretical literary models in relation to the partial theoretical-literary models; and we account for the general assumptions for a comprehensive or global literary theory.
