Abstract

The success of the reading of the narrative genre that started with the irruption in the market of the book of El Cuento Semanal, extraordinary in a country where the illiterate were a third of the population, it is not explained for literary reasons. In that sense, fundamental aspects formed the financing through publicity and the techniques deployed to obtain the fidelity of the readers. The Spanish editorial industry, attached to the uses of the nineteenth century, began to modernise here.
