Abstract

This paper is part of an ongoing investigation into the fictionalized relationalities between women and dogs in Latin American artistic practices that challenge the anthropocentric and masculinist humanism embedded in the master/dog history that the West has long transformed into a symbol. Beyond the dual domestication to which they have been subjected, women and dogs have been able to invent interspecies stories of love and companionship. This study focuses on the relationships between girls and “she-dogs” in two Latin American novels from the past decade, which explore, in first person, alliances that participate in a humanimal sympoetics for narrating the stories we wish to live.
