Introduction or invitation to travel
Abstract
In this issue of Monteagudo, like rays of the world, a series of transcendental horizons or landscapes open up around the question of space. Which also implies a whole series of challenges, problems and twists. This issue, which includes a selection of works discussed at the IV International Asetel Congress held at the University of Murcia in 2022, examines the category of space in the approaches of literary theory to its object of study, literature. Mapping the change in trend operated by the most vivid current events, within literary theory and practices, from a temporal perspective to another of a spatial nature. As the theory of recent decades has confirmed, we can perceive, in a general way, a step in the postmodern condition from the Great Stories, which were fundamentally temporal or historical, to the small stories, which are mostly spatial or geographical. There being, therefore, a paradigm shift in the approach to literature linked to a modification of its own ontology in the course of recent decades, we proposed to interested specialists a monograph focused on the so-called "spatial turn." And this will be the nomadic signifier that will cross, like a red thread, practically the entire present issue.
