Abstract

This article is structured around a central work in the first stage of Claribel Alegría’s poetic production, corresponding to the work written mainly in the seventies.: Raíces (1973-75) is a collection of poems that was published for the first time in the Anthology prepared in 1981 by Mario Benedetti in Spain, Suma y sigue, and that time has positioned as a work that is not only hightly representative of her poetic point of view but also a condenser of the guidelines
themes and the stylistic expressiveness of the Central American poet, who very shortly after will be consecrated with the award of the Casa de las Américas Prize, in Cuba, with the collection of poems Sobrevivo (1978), thus closing the first phase of a long career that will close with obtaining the Reina Sofía Prize for Ibero-American Poetry in 2017.
