Abstract
From an image (Amparo Emperador sitting in the shadows of a train carriage) I start to make an analysis of the protagonist of the novel Tormento in which I will develop three aspects: the conflict of the psyche between the id and the super-ego, the problematic hero that Lucien Goldmann proposes in his book For a sociology of the novel and the criticism against Spanish society prior to the Revolution of 68 carried out by Galdós. These three aspects reviewed are made from Psychocritics and Marxist analysis of literature.
