El gallo de oro de Juan Rulfo y la versión cinematográfica de Roberto Gavaldón

Abstract

This paper tries to carry out a comparative analysis between the novel El gallo de oro, written towards 1958 and  rst published in 1980, and its  lm version done by Roberto Gavaldón in 1964. The paper does not intend to research on the literary value of Rulfo ́s novel, something which has already been established in the past, but to analyse Rulfo ́s footprints in the  lm version, i.e. the degree of faithfulness to the written text, the similarities on the use of linguistic resources or the coincidence/diversion on thematic issues. All in all, the idea is shed some light on whether the novel ́s ideological density as well as its literary quality have been adequately portrayed in the fllm.
