Las bizarrías de Belisa o la última bala contra los «pájaros nuevos»
Abstract
The last years in the life of Lope de Vega, the cycle known as de senectute, show a constant struggle, lining the obsession, between Lope and the young generation of poets, the «new birds», that took away from the old playwright the success both in the corrales de comedias as in the royal palaces, with the failed attempt to get the job as Royal Chronicler as the best example. Las bizarrías de Belisa is the last dated comedy of Lope de Vega (May, 1634). Although it was written hardly a year before his death, the comedy shows us a Lope mordacious, aggressive and implacable with his literary enemies, in spite of the image as a defeated man that the critics normally defend.Downloads
