Abstract

The current article presents a critical study of the different translations madeof «Le Petit Prince», by Antoine de Saint- Exupéry. The perspective that we have adoptedfor most of the amendments carried out here has been that of the «normative usage of theSpanish language»; that is to say, the acceptable norm as followed by an educated speaker of the language. To date, the only existing translation in Spanish of Le Petit Prince are thosecarried out in Mexico or Argentina which, therefore, make use of idioms and turns of thephrase peculiar to the Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America. Such a state of affairshas prompted our proposal in this article, as an urgent response to the need for a new translationof this work, an icon and point of reference in World Literature at large.
