Digital textbooks in Mexico: supporting educational work in basic education classrooms
Abstract
This article aims to point out the basic elements necessary in order to structure educational work in basic education classrooms in Mexico through digital textbooks. The article also presents the history of the digitization of materials that have been used in the Mexican education system, focusing on policies and programs that have been created to consolidate the process of digitization, and on how digital textbook use has been received at basic schools in the country. The findings show that textbook digitization is conceived as a teaching aid in classrooms of basic education since it facilitates the educational process and expands learning experiences, without the need to replace printed textbooks; however, to make the use of technology in classrooms successful teachers need to be trained so that this sector has the necessary conditions for school planning and for working with digital teaching materials and educational software.Downloads
