Abstract

In this essay i want to explore the world of diary as special kind of autobiographical writing through Mircea Eliade´s journalism. Firstly, i will draft some suspicion about notion «authenticity» in this «literary genere» starting on his reflections on how to write a diary. In the second part i attempt to defend significance and magnitude of the diary in the narrative unity of an author as Eliade, whose anxiety about the problem of time was a sickly obsession along all his life. Besides this, the extraordinary instance of Amiel will help me to show some risks of this type of prose. At bottom of the question it will remain the problematic relationships between life and writing on the one hand, and between philosophy and literature on the other.
