Abstract

The paper analyses the philosophical digression of the 'seventh letter', focusing on Plat´s refusal to divulge the highest philosophical contents. It depends to show that the text implies a difference of content between what has to be expressed orally and what can be written, a difference that is justified by the weakness of discourse and the problems concerning the relation between intuition and knowledge, and the temptation to devaluate the philosophical importance of the Dialogues -whose relations with Plato´s oral teaching are very complex and deserve a detaidel study -are both presented as one- side.
