Abstract

The following contribution is a proposal to reconsider the different paths in which utopia has been historically thought. Miguel Abensour points out two basic turns in this trajectory. First of all, the assignment of time to utopia by means of a transfert towards dialectical ontology, a Marxian innovation identified by Marc Bloch. Secondly, and even more important as it constitutes a present task, the overcoming of the limits imposed by dialectics forecast on utopia by means of a thinking of the otherness. In that last point, the philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas represents a pioneering exploratory effort.
