Abstract

In this paper I present the concepts of mysticism and religious experience in Suzuki Daisetsuʼs works and compare the definition of this concepts made by the Japanese scholar with the ideas that William James expressed in his book The varieties of religious experience (1902). Finally, basing on Jameʼs theories, I will point out some of the problems that Suzukiʼs thesis entails.
