Abstract

In the spring of 1750, the people of Paris rose up against the police, who were accused of kidnapping children. In order to understand this revolt, we must study, on the one hand, the transformation of police structure, which became a repressive device, and, on the other hand, the increase of seditious speeches, that attack the sacred symbols of the Old Regime.
