Abstract

The article turns on veracity as the essential value in Nietzsche's work, both respecting the force that it represented in his own personal search of truth and also because it is an intrinsic category of his own philosophy: veracity is one of the moral values of Christianity, assumed by Nietzsche during his childhood, and it is also the essential force that leads him, through an internal dialectics, to the negation of God, of the morals and of values of Christianity; it also leads him to nihilism and, finally, to its overcoming by means of the beautiful lie of art, the Dionysian conception of life and the acceptance of the Eternal Return. Paradoxically veracity also leads him to criticize the value of Science, Metaphysics and the capacity of language to serve as a vehicle of knowledge, getting to teh conclusion that teh <> of man are only <>.
