Abstract

This article examines the critical intervention of Mersenne in L'impiété des déistes aganist the theory of the anima mundi stated by Bruno in De la causa, principio e uno. Mersenne, from an orthodox christianism, not only objects to the infinitist conceptino of the universe to the necesitarest creation of it or to the immanentisit imago of the divinity presented by Bruno in connection with the anima mundi, but also to the magic as a model of knowledge and mastering of nature.
