Abstract

The field of ethics as object of philosophical study is presented as follows: - Human action is judged in one way or the other. How this judgment takes place becomes the subject matter of a field os study which shall here be called "Epistemology of Action". - Every human action belongs to a particular field and depends on a set of rules governing it. - An ethical understanding of human action must have these rules for its point of departure. The meaning of human action depends on the network of rules that intervene in the game. - These rules are flexible and dynamic by nature. From the aforesaid principles a series of important consequences may be derived, both for "the dynamics of action" and for athics. Our point of departure is the "notion of rule" as used in Prof. Ludwig Wittgenstein´s writings, there referred to the field of mathematics. The text suggests a re-consideration of the relationship between philosphy and ethics; it is a complex matter on wich only a first approach is here attempted and which requires further research.
