Abstract

What were the confluences between the works of two literary figures such as Kafka and Roth? Is it possible to discover a hidden Hasidic root in the work of these two great writers, based on the spiritual renewal that Buber brought about? How can philosophy and literature be brought into dialogue on the basis of the problems that fin-de-siècle Jewish thought had to face? Gabriel Insausti’s latest book deals with these problems, which, from very different prisms but with a strong philosophical component, brings us face to face with the fundamental problem of Jewish existence and the experience of foreignness at the dawn of the short twentieth century.
