Abstract
Mujeres y discursos gerenciales. Hacia la autogestión feminista is the first book by Maria Medina-Vicent, Lecturer in Philosophy at the Universitat Jaume I in Castelló. It includes some of the findings of her doctoral thesis, which has been awarded repeatedly, for example, with the prize for doctoral theses in the category of Humanities from the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain in 2018. The work analyzes from a feminist perspective the management literature directed at women as well as feminist-themed bestsellers, showing their similarities and differences, and their impact on women's identities or subjectivities. These literary genres are symptomatic of a social imaginary, and at the same time, devices for its survival and expansion. These two types of literature have the power to reflect and transform the social imaginary, with the consequent risk of depoliticising feminism through its redefinition as a call for entrepreneurship, self-management and self-demand, enhanced by the culture of happiness and the use of free choice as mantra. The book argues that representations of women in this type of literature do not necessarily contribute to the achievement of equality between men and women, because asymmetric and unequal roles are perpetuated. In all cases, criticism and feminist ethics remain essential to work collectively for another possible world.
