Abstract

Leibniz would have prefered to write his Theocicy on the basis of his «new system»: the Monadology. The Theodicy would have been an essay giving information about the sufficient reason of this Universe and particularly of the Beings endowed with monadological rationality. Thus, the Theodicy wood become 'Anthropodicy¡. Such a Theodicy is germane to John's christianity, to the simple rue of practical love. Classical or conventional Theodicy (praedestination, prescience, eschatology...) schould be «trans-created». Lessing put forward this leibnizian operation of «trans-creating» the conventional eschatological dogmas. The great trends of scepticism and antireligious criticism, howewer, (Bayte, Toland, etc.), compelled Leibniz to collect his occasional and scattered writings and publish them, as the tells us in the Foreword to his Theodicy.
