Abstract

In this article three arguments are examined in which the notions of time, truth and possibility play an important part. They are due to Aristotle, Alexander of Aphroisias and Diodrorus Cronus, respectively. All three arguments are valid, because their conclusions logically follow from their premises. But whereas in the case of the first two their soundness depends on which sort of truth-conditions a future-tensed proposition is taken to have, the third is unsound, no matter whether we take a future-tensed proposition to have strong or weak conditions of truth.
