Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to show that in Republic 436b-437a Plato formulates, in some way, "The Law of Contradiction". On one hand, we investigate what this "Law" consists in, distinguishing it from the notion of oppositionor contrariety. On teh other hand, we give arguments that we consider sufficient in favor of Plato taking notice of the danger of contradiction for the correct reasoning, in dependently that he is treating with pairs of opposites.
