Abstract

This article tries to offer an answer to the following question: How does a rationality «of ends» operate? In order to answer this question, I will analyze some of the concepts given by Aristotle and R. Nozick. In the first part of the paper, I try to establish the kind of criteria and the conditions involved in the aristotelian phronimo´s process of decision making. Afterwards I intent to set up the way in which this process takes place. This will lead us to answer the question concerning on the kind of relations between this process and the technical way of reasonig. In the second part of the article, I use Nozick´s concepts of «following a principle» and «symbolic utility», in order to show how they can respond to the question about the mechanisms used by aristotelian moral agent, that is, an agent which decides on the basis of value criteria.
