Abstract

Hume´s aesthetics, in reference to plastics, that in the Renaissance was named the arts of design, is a very balanced proposal between palladians normativism and Claude Perrault´s relativism of the taste. the palladianism was «enviromental» in England in that time, whereas there is certainly that Hume was reader of Perrault´s work. From them Hume developed an aesthetic functionalism that defined a concept of beaty that composed from and representation, both objetives views as constructive utility and subjetives as pleasure and simpathy, overcoming so the aesthetics alternatives between subjectivity and objectivity that appeared in the second half of the XVIIth century.
