Abstract

This paper examines and criticizes some well-known culturalist arguments put forward in favor of «The politics of Recognition», not only referred to features differentiated but even to notorious human handicaps or disabilities. To this end, our work doesn´t take a hypothesis or a contrafactual situation as starting point and reference but and actual real case: the decision of an American couple of lesbians to be inseminated by deaf donors with the purpose of having deaf children deliberately. The exaltation of the difference and specificity can end up colliding with the potentiatilities and possibilities of our species. This may create a moral and social scenario which would be picturesque and even sinester.
