Abstract

The objective of the article is to show the importance of virtude ethics as the necessary complement of the two big paradigms of moderm ethics: the ethics of principles and the ethics of consequences. Both paradigs or models are insufficient if they are nod added an aspect usally unintended. This is the person´s formation, in the line proposed by Aristotelian ethics. The current recobery of republicanism represents the best critic to the philosophy of liberalism, whose abstract individualism leaves without answering fundamental questions for liberal democracies. One of those questions is the citizen´s formation and its responsibility in front of the common interest.
