Abstract

Throughout her work, Hannah Arendt aims at political life as the more completely human way of life. The problem is that her conception about <> acquires variable meanings, depending on the different contexts of teorical debate and historical analysis. Besides that polysemy, we find some contradictions and prejudices darkening her thought´s lucidity. This article proposes a triple critical job: to distinguish the different arendtian uses of the word <> and to determine in what sense it is possible their mutual congruence; to recognize the contradictions which affect each of those uses and to find the way to prevent or solve them; and, finally, to argue about inherited prejuices which Arendt stick inadvertently to, so that we recognize the value and validity of her opinions about the sense of political life.
