Abstract

Following the pragmatic postulate of the continuity of experience, this essay about "Emerson and Thoreau", "The domestication of Writing" deals with the establishment of the origins of pragmatism as a consecuence of the literary work of Emerson and Thoreau, chiefly of 'Experience' and "Walden". The domestication of writing is an expediency of humanism or a literary ethics founded on the rethoric category of persuasion, to answer to the question about the meaning of America.
