Abstract

In the first part of this paper I make a very brief outline of Karl Popper's philosophical position, pointing out his main contributions to philosophy of science and to social philosophy, and attempting to single out those which will have a bigger and longer-lasting influence in the later development of philosophy. In the second part I describe a presently existing contrast in Spanish universities, between an "erudite" and a "substantive" philosophy, and I identify analytic philosophy as the main representative of the latter.
