Abstract

The author analyses the palce and meaning of phusis in the origin of Greek Philosophy, as wll as the related notions of arkhé as principee of phusis, and of kosmos as result of it. The most relevant texts in relation to this, both from prephilosophic literature and from the presocratic philosophers, are studied an discussed. The author attemps to explain the transition from the common use of these terms to their philosophical use, and to establish, as far as possible, which philosophers introduced the philosophical meaning of the aforementioned terms.
