Abstract

The body-proper is the source of concrete human existence. It is the center of action, that which places me "at" or "in" the midst of things. It is than "by means of which" there is a world at all for me. It is that which at once is my presence to the world, and is the world's presence to me. The concrete analysis of the body-proper as a subjective body opens up the possibility of investigating human subject as such, in a distinctively new fashion as compared with certain predominant trendas of traditional philosophy. IN so far as consciousness is embodied, there is no neutral background for thought without the fundamental phenomenon of the primal unitiy between consciousness and its "own" subjetive body. This new framework discloses new dimensions to man's concrete being as subject of knowledge and action.
