Abstract

Relativism is nowadays a generalised trend of both social and most science analysis (the last due mainly to Kuhn's and Feyerbend's approaches to history and philosophy of science). This paper is only a reminder of the currency of an alternative research program. My purpose here is to plead for the antagonistic realist line of thought in philosophy of science defended by Imre Lakatos, in order to show the advantages of a rational reconstruction of science form a neopopperian point of view. Even if scientific rationnality cannot be so crystal clear structured as classical philosophy required, it can be understood as a product of 'imperfect rationality' according to the elsterian sense of the word, as a not infalible rationality whose working is to be account for from its empirical historical point of view.
