Intencionalidade na prática da atividade física em alunos do ensino básico: implicações para a promoção da saúde e a perspetiva ocupacional

Resumo

A atividade física desempenha um papel fundamental no desenvolvimento integral dos indivíduos ao longo da vida, contribuindo não só para a melhoria da condição física, mas também para o bem-estar social e cognitivo. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a intencionalidade de ser fisicamente ativo em estudantes do Ensino Básico. Para tal, foi utilizado o questionário Medida da Intencionalidade para Ser Fisicamente Ativo (MIFA). A amostra foi constituída por 185 participantes (96 alunos do 5.º ano e 89 alunos do 6.º ano do Ensino Básico), com idades compreendidas entre os 10 e os 12 anos. Os resultados não revelaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas em função do sexo ou da idade, tendo sido observados tamanhos do efeito muito reduzidos em todas as análises realizadas (η²p = .000–.015). No entanto, verificaram-se tendências positivas, destacando-se o elevado grau de concordância dos participantes relativamente à importância da prática de atividade física, tanto dentro como fora do contexto escolar. A ausência de diferenças significativas em função do sexo ou da idade, juntamente com os reduzidos tamanhos do efeito, sugere que, nesta etapa educativa, a intencionalidade de ser fisicamente ativo se mantém relativamente estável entre os diferentes subgrupos analisados, estando mais relacionada com fatores motivacionais e com o prazer associado à prática. Estes resultados alargam a relevância aplicada do estudo para além do contexto educativo, fornecendo evidência útil a partir de uma perspetiva ocupacional para o desenvolvimento de estratégias preventivas orientadas para promover a participação em ocupações fisicamente ativas e a promoção da saúde desde a infância.
