Psychological intervention with an open waters swimmer

Abstract

This work shows the psychological training carried out with an open waters swimmer. It was focused on his adaptation to change from his usual training and competition environment in a swimming pool to open waters swimming discipline, also adding a previous experience of a panic attack while training in a marsh. The anticipatory anxiety generated as a result of this experience, was leading him to think of abandoning sport. Here it’s detailed the work of psychological intervention realized to get his back to competition in this discipline.
