Abstract

In this paper we intend to present the results of a small research on the presence of Molière in the Girona press in the last years of the nineteenth century and the first third of the twentieth century. In the newspapers of the time plays, translations, studies were announced; the titles of the works and the most well known characters were evoked; some reviews were also published. Sometimes the reader is presented with some brief news referring to the playwright’s personal issues, or to his context. We have, therefore, a corpus that has been analyzed and interpreted in order to understand the seduction that Molière exerted on the Catalan public and to get to know the perception that this author has had in our country, and particularly in Girona in the indicated period.
