Abstract

Ever since the French song has been active and lively. Through the «circunstances' song» also called «historical song» loe habe access to crucial moments of the French lif in a more peculiar and different way than usual. On the other hand everybody Knows the colours of the French flag but few Know its development, full of happy anecdotes and misfortunes. Throughout its history, the French flag has had to compete with other colours and symbols, all of them very meaningful and sometimes carriers of even different meanings. In this paper we try, from a number of illustrative historical songs, to know the symbolic world of the three coulours of the French flag, finding out not only what they have meant to people but also its contribution since its origins.
