Abstract

This work is aimed at analyzing the correlation between the Spanish digital press media web audience and the presence and impact that the news of that media achieve in Social News Managers (GSN). Quantitative data from GSN (Menéame and Fresqui) are collected from January 2007 until April 2008. Data on Fresqui is presented, whereas those regarding Menéame are taken from previous work. GSN-Correlation factor is proposed as a tool to quantify the correspondence between web audience and GSN presence, being applied to the media 20 minutos and El Mundo. The results show little similarity between the web audience (through OJDInteractiva) and presence in the GSN, due to low levels achieved by the correlation factor. However, it gives better results in those GSN in which the media has more presence.
