Abstract

A comparative analysis of the headboards of the digital and printed editions of 20 representative newspapers of the main Spanish media groups. There is a classification of the basic features of this element and a self design documentary card is used for this study. The results show the loss of the visual relevance of the logo due to its smaller size and its lateral displacement as well as the use of the frame of the headboard to insert other elements, and the access to the resources of the web. The headboard loses value as a corporative visual referent and gets a new functional aim. The changes at a visual level represent a independence when speaking about the digital newspapers compared to the printed ones.
